Lake ‘n’ Shore Days 2014 “Down by the Shore”

The theme this year is “Down by the Shore“ Volunteers are needed to make these days in August a great time for everyone in the Porters Lake area.
Some of the great events that will be taking place around the Community are:

Sunday Aug 3- 12th Annual Show and Shine at Porters Lake Pub-Classic Cars from all over Atlantic Canada!  DJ, outside patio with food and drinks-Registration 10-noon Rain or Shine-registration fee$5-public admission$2 under 5 years free. Monday Aug 4th-

8:30 am Rhyzer Fabrications presents “A Shore Thing”- Fun Run . 10K,5K,100 m& 1K Youth runs Register today for A Shore Thing at therunningroom.com. Pancake Breakfast included at the Porters Lake Community Center. Contact daniellerowlings@yahoo.ca

Tuesday Aug 5-
SATA annual Bike fest from 11am -3pm at Lake and Shore Community RecreationCenter, 40 Inspiration Dr. A free event with lunch barbecue provided for 5-11 year olds. Contact Sherisse @ 827-2700 or Shirley Smith @ 827-2428 for more info.

Youth Dance- Porters Lake Community Center , grades 3-6,7-9pm $5

Wednesday Aug 6-
-Porters Lake Community Center. Come help us celebrate 40 years in our Community! Enjoy cake and see how the PLCSA has been an active part of Porters Lake for 40 years

Thursday Aug 7-

Teen Dance under the Big Tent with DJ Paul- 7-9 pm $5 grades 7-9

Hip Hop Concert under the Big Tent at Porters Lake Community Center promoting “Confident” a made for radio CD supporting the YMCA Strong Kids campaign with 6 young artists from NS ,10-12 pm .Ages 16+ This is a ‘dry’ event ( no alcohol permitted) Student or other picture ID MUST be shown. Admission $5

Friday Aug 8-

1pm-3pm HRM Mobile Skate Park – PLCC Basketball Court


9pm-1am Beer Tent at the Porters Lake Community Center. The finals of War for the Shore battle of the bands . 7 bands of different genres will compete for the grand prize of $250 and a chance to open for Brazen at the Saturday night beer tent after a 5 week battle which will take place every Wednesday night in July at the Porters Lake Pub 19+ event . Cash bar.$7 admission

Saturday Aug 9

8:30-10:30 am Pancake & Sausage Breakfast- put on by Orenda Canoe Club. Age 10 and under $5, Adults-$8- Porters Lake Community Center

11:00 am -PLCSA and RBC present the Lake n Shore Days Parade parade will go through the #7 Highway from Stella Drive (Superstore) to Keizer Rd ( Post Office). The Parade will commence at 11:00 and end at approximately 1:00 pm. Please expect delays if you plan on traveling that route on that day during those times. We will commence closing down entries/exits to the highway(Exits 19 &20) and all side streets along the route 15 minutes prior to the Parade. If you are interested in putiing a float or Parade Entry please contact  Laura at 827-5310.

1pm-3pm Seven Lakes presents Lake and Shore Family  Fair – face painting, BBQ presented by Dominion Diving,games with prizes , ,bouncy ride,cotton candy, popcorn and ice cream- some activities/food will cost…most are FREE.

9pm-1am Beach Party Beer Tent with “ Brazen” -$10–Porters Lake Community Center For Tickets call Susan @ 827-4420. This event sells out fast –get your tickets early!. All tickets must be purchased/picked up by Aug 8.

BEER TENT BRACELET SPECIAL- BUY A BRACELET FOR BOTH NIGHTS BEER TENTS FOR $15

Sunday Aug 10-

2pm-4pm Teddy Bear Picnic –lots of fun activities for children ages 2-4,bring your favorite Teddy for a  good time! FREE. Contact Monica@ 827-4828 for more info.

Nature Ridge Homes presents

8:30 pm Parade of Lights – contact Dan Lisisky @ 402-4101 for more info and to register your boat. FREE to enter. Registration mandatory for prizes or trophy.
Approx 9:30 pm-  Lake N Shore Fireworks over Sandy Point
