Volunteers are needed to make these days in August a great time for everyone in the Porters Lake area.
Some of the great events that will be taking place around the Community are:

4th -11th Annual Show and Shine $5 entry, $2 admission 10 am -12 registration ;12 pm-4 show
Come kick off Lake and Shore Days with live entertainment and vintage/ antique show cars.

Bike artists from 4C Foundation…HRM’s community art initiative are going to help participants to decorate bikes in the Wild Wild East theme for participation in a bike ride along the trail near the Rec Center

8:30-10:30 am Pancake & Sausage Breakfast- put on by Orenda Canoe Club. Age 10 and under $5, Adults-$8- Porters Lake Community Center
11:00 am YeeHaw!! Our Wild Wild East, Lake n Shore Days Parade will ramble through the #7 Highway from Stella Drive (Superstore) to Keizer Rd ( Post Office). The Parade will commence at 11:00 and end at approximately 1:00 pm. Please expect delays if you plan on traveling that route on that day during those times. We will commence closing down entries/exits to the highway(Exits 19 &20) and all side streets along the route 15 minutes prior to the Parade. If you are interested in wrangling up a float or Parade Entry please contact Jeri at 281-2076 or Laura at 827-5310.
1pm-3pm Family Country Fair – face painting, games with prizes, watermelon eating contests, Hatfield Farms petting zoo and pony rides, mock jail, bouncy ride, popcorn and ice cream- some activities/food will cost…most are FREE.
9pm-1am Beer Tent with Bittersweet-$10 –Porters Lake Community Center For Tickets call Susan @ 827-4420. This event sells out fast –get your tickets early!. All tickets must be purchased/picked up by Aug 8.
